Matthew West is scientist at the European Space Agency (ESA), Netherlands, where he is closely involved in the Vigil mission advancing space weather forecasting through continuous solar observations. His research focuses on the solar corona, solar eruptions, magnetic reconnection and coronal mass ejections. He combines theory, observations and space instrumentation to improve understanding and prediction of solar activity. He is currently a Visiting Fellow at CAS.
